Apply to a Long-Term Program
A summer, semester or year-long听study abroad program听provides you听with a听full immersion into another culture and way of life.
Before applying听
Attend an听information session or walk-in hours听to get in touch with听a study abroad advisor. If you鈥檙e unable to attend, contact us at听global@uc.edu.
We鈥檒l help you understand听听and听costs and scholarships.听
While听it鈥檚听not required听to听have a passport before beginning听a study abroad application, students are highly encouraged to have a听valid听passport or be听applying to get a passport听prior to听starting an application.听
Start your application
Research programs and start your application听.听Follow the instructions provided throughout the application process.
- Exchange -听Students first apply through 美高梅官网 International, then are nominated to the host university. They then apply directly to the host university.
- External Provider (USAC or other) -听Students are required to complete a 美高梅官网 International application and the external provider鈥檚 application simultaneously.听
- You will need to get听approval from your academic advisor听for the courses you wish to take abroad.
Deadlines
美高梅官网 International鈥檚 general deadlines are:
- October 15th for Spring travel
- March 15th for Summer travel
- March 15th for Fall and Academic Year travel
Please note these are听general deadlines. Some programs may have earlier deadlines - check your specific program!
GPA Requirements
- For exchange and direct-enroll programs, students are required to have a 3.0 GPA.听
- For other external provider programs, like USAC, the GPA requirement varies by program.听
After you've applied
You will be notified of听your admissions decision听via email. If you鈥檙e applying to an external provider program, you may be notified of听admissions听prior to the deadline because听acceptance decisions听are听made听on a rolling admission basis. If you鈥檙e applying to an exchange program, you鈥檒l be notified after the application deadline has passed.听
After you鈥檝e been accepted, you will have post-decision requirements to complete in your 美高梅官网 International application, this includes completing a听Pre-Departure Orientation Session.听We听also听recommend听exploring these resources听before you go.
You are encouraged to stay enrolled in 美高梅官网 courses the term you鈥檒l be abroad until your study abroad program is solidified.
Register for Study Abroad Placeholder Course
It is听required听to听be enrolled in the correct course for your program type to receive credit for your experience. 美高梅官网 International will enroll you in the appropriate study abroad placeholder course before you go abroad; students do not enroll themselves.
