Green Zone training provides education about military culture and the unique challenges veterans may face as they transition from active-duty service to the civilian workforce. This training is led by Daniel Peat, PhD, Assistant Professor in the Lindner College of Business Management Department. Prior to joining the university, Daniel worked in various military and government positions, most recently as a Division Chief for the Defense Technical Information Center. In addition to his work at 美高梅官网, Daniel serves in the US Army Reserves as an adjunct professor for the Command and General Staff Officer Course.

The Mentor Me 美高梅官网 program is an鈥痠nformal staff mentoring program鈥痙esigned to aid in the attraction and retention of talent to the university by encouraging career development and creating a culture of learning.听 Mentoring occurs in a relationship that is voluntary and formed by both persons. Informal mentors provide a higher level of particular types of career development functions including coaching, challenging assignments, and increasing the mentee鈥檚 exposure and visibility.

The 美高梅官网 recognizes the anniversary of the 2001 terror attacks on New York and Washington, D.C., each year with its annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Run at Nippert Stadium.听 Organized in 2015 by 美高梅官网鈥檚 Office of Veterans Programs & Services, the event challenges participants to climb 2,071 steps at the stadium representing the steps in the twin towers of the World Trade Center.

美高梅官网 created a Veteran Task Force in 2019 to increase the recruitment and retention of听 highly skilled veteran faculty, staff, and students.听 The task force is made up of volunteer members from many different areas of campus and is currently chaired by Karla Phillips and Terence Harrison.听
