Reasonable Modifications for Pregnancy and Related Conditions
OEO facilitates reasonable modifications on the basis of pregnancy and related conditions. A 鈥漴easonable modification鈥 is a change in the academic or workplace environment that enables an individual who is pregnant or has related conditions to have equal access to education and employment programs and聽 activities.

Title IX is a federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex and includes protections for students who have been pregnant, are pregnant, or may become pregnant. OEO can assist with ensuring that pregnant and parenting students are able to fully access and participate in education programs and activities.

The (鈥淧DA鈥), which amended , prohibits discrimination on the basis of pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions. People who are pregnant or affected by pregnancy-related conditions must be treated in the same manner as other applicants or employees with similar abilities or limitations. The PDA covers all aspects of pregnancy including current pregnancy, past pregnancy, potential or intended pregnancy, and medical conditions related to pregnancy or childbirth.
