Testing Accommodations

聽How do I receive testing accommodations?聽

After a student has completed a聽Registration聽meeting with a member of our team, if testing accommodations have been approved, the student will be eligible to utilize those accommodations within聽Testing Services.

Students who receive testing accommodations may take assessments (exams, quizzes, etc.) at either of the Testing Services locations:

  • , Suite 1000 or聽
  • (Medical Campus): Located on the corner of Eden Avenue and Goodman Street in the French Building. Students will report to G (Ground) 65.

If students have questions about accommodated testing after they鈥檝e registered with Accessibility Resources, they can contact Testing Services via phone at (513) 556-7173 or email them at聽testdel@ucmail.uc.edu.

Testing Services coordinates the administration of classroom assessments for students with registered with Accessibility Resources. See the聽Remote Testing Accommodations FAQ section below for more information about accommodations for remote assessments.

Testing accommodations are determined during the interactive process between an AR staff member and the student. Accommodations are determined on a case-by-case basis depending on the impact of the students disability. In some cases, testing accommodations may include:

  • Extended Time (50% or Double) on Assessments (exams, quizzes, etc.)聽
  • Reduced Distraction Environment聽
  • Individual Room聽
  • Reader for Exams聽
  • Use of computer聽
  • Use of calculator (Basic 4-Function)聽
  • Other accommodations, as determined between AR Staff and student聽

How do I make a request to use my testing accommodations?

Students must request accommodations for each test in which they wish to use their accommodations.

Extended Time on Tests (50% more time/Double Time)

Students should contact their faculty members directly to request their testing accommodations. Faculty members will adjust times appropriately in Canvas and other testing platforms. To ensure that your accommodation is in place at the time of your test, it is highly recommended that you send your email communication 48-72 hours before the time of your test.聽

Email communication should include:

  1. The accommodation you are requesting for the upcoming test, quiz, exam, etc.
    Example:聽Double Time on Assessments
  2. What specific test you are requesting the accommodation for.聽
    Example:聽HIST 1003-001 mid-term
  3. The date of the test.聽
    Example:聽March 25, 2023
