Bishal Upreti is pursuing a BA in international affairs. Being from Nepal and coming from a background where his community experienced displacement and hardships as a result of political conflicts, he is driven by the power of diplomacy and the ability to create solutions through multilateral engagement and effective dialogue. He was always drawn to the idea of working abroad and having the opportunity to make an impact in underdeveloped countries. He applied to Fulbright as an ETA in Nepal and was named semi-finalist. If selected for Fulbright, he hopes to give back to his community and learn more about Nepal and its people--the opportunity he didn't get having moved to the US at such an early age. 

Bishal has also applied to other human rights-related internships and scholarships. Despite the final outcome, he is deeply grateful for the opportunity to grow as an individual and an aspiring leader in the foreign service. Whether refining his essays for his applications, seeking opportunities that align with his career goals, or getting connected to other professionals in the field, working with his advisor has not only improved his writing skills but also gained valuable interpersonal skills and taught him the importance of professionalism. 

Bishal is passionate about advocating for marginalized communities, and he looks forward to what opportunities life has in store for him in order to fulfill his goals. Wherever life takes him, he seeks to always lead with empathy. He considers himself lucky to have the support from his friends, family, and ÃÀ¸ß÷¹ÙÍø community.
