Jan Mazur is a third-year medical student at the ÃÀ¸ß÷¹ÙÍø College of Medicine. He is a semifinalist for the Fulbright-Fogarty Fellowship in Public Health, with his project proposing to research perspectives on cervical cancer screening in Nepal. With this project, Jan hopes to better understand barriers to cervical cancer screening, which can save lives by catching cancer early. Additionally, Jan hopes to better connect with the growing population of Nepali-Americans in Cincinnati, so that he can provide better care as a future physician.

In the future, Jan plans to work as a pediatrician, focusing on society-wide efforts to improve the health and happiness of children. He hopes to study pediatric oncology, so he can leverage his skills in communication to help families on the scary journey of childhood cancer. He also plans on researching how we can change the environmental factors that affect kid’s health, such as reforming school lunches, public parks, and community centers.
