The AWC Center will open for summer services on Tuesday, May 13th! Appointments will be primarily online, with limited in-person sessions available upon request. Support is available Monday–Thursday from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
What is the Academic Writing Center?
The Academic Writing Center (AWC) is ÃÀ¸ß÷¹ÙÍø's hub for writing assistance. Our dedicated writing tutors are fellow ÃÀ¸ß÷¹ÙÍø students who participate in ongoing training to support you throughout the writing process. You can schedule an online or in-person one-on-one appointment, submit your paper for asynchronous tutor feedback, or drop in for writing in-person support.Ìý
How does scheduling work?
Online and in-person AWC appointments are scheduled throughÌýTracCloud. All appointments are 1 hour long. You can schedule an appointment up to 7 days in advance, and all appointments must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. You can schedule one appointment per day.
I can't make my appointment. How can I cancel it?
All cancellations must be madeÌýat leastÌý24 hours in advance through your online account inÌýÌýorÌýby calling the Learning Commons Front Desk.ÌýCancellations less than 24 hours noticeÌýwill result in aÌýNo-Show occurrence.
My instructor wants documentation that I visited the AWC. How can I access my record of consultation?
Let your AWC tutor know if you want a record of consultation and who you want it sent to, and they will ensure that it is sent.
I have a question regarding my asynchronous tutor feedback submission. Who should I contact?
For any questions or updates regarding your asynchronous tutor feedback submission, email Daniel FloydÌýwith the subject lineÌýAsynchronous Tutor Feedback Question, and be sure to include your full name and M-number in the body of the email.
What should I bring to my AWC appointment?
For in-person appointments, bring two printed copies of your writing, all prompts and instructions from the professor, all research materials (if applicable), and any questions or concerns about the draft. For online appointments, your tutor will ask you to share your screen so you can review your writing together.
Do you have writing feedback for graduate students?
Yes. All ÃÀ¸ß÷¹ÙÍø graduate students canÌýutilize the AWC for writing assistance regarding their coursework and final writing experiences. The AWC also holds free writing workshops for graduate students. To learn more, visit our Graduate Student SupportÌýwebpage.
