Over 100 Mental Health Champions graduated this spring

On April 15, 2021, these faculty and staff attended a virtual recognition ceremony

On April 15, 2021, over听100听faculty and staff across the 美高梅官网 graduated to become official Mental Health Champions,听a听now听Healthy 美高梅官网听initiative.听These dedicated colleagues successfully completed three trainings focused on creating connections and community, supporting students and co-workers with resources, and investing in their own personal wellness. Trainings were hosted by fellow colleagues who became facilitators in听Question, Persuade,听Refer听(QPR),听Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), and the Be Well 美高梅官网 employee wellness program. All Mental Health Champions actively demonstrate their commitment to building the culture of positive well-being at the University.听

Many recall this initiative was founded by Student Government and CAPS听with the first cohort of 135 faculty and staff attending an all-day training in January 2020. All involved know this is a necessary investment, so听Healthy 美高梅官网,听the university-wide well-being collaborative, committed to sustaining this program.听This aligns with Healthy 美高梅官网鈥檚 mission to educate,听support听and empower our community to make healthy choices while building an overall culture of well-being.

The spring graduation this year was held virtually due to the pandemic. It did not lack enthusiasm, though. The virtual ceremony included a welcome from Dr. Tara Scarborough (executive director鈥痮f鈥痟ealth and wellness and鈥痙irector of the CAPS division of Student Affairs鈥�), a听keynote and Mental Health Champion pledge with First Lady Dr. Jennifer Pinto,听testimonials from Laura Dell听(associate dean鈥嬏齱ith CECH鈥檚 Academic Affairs)听and Gretchen Hart听(director of undergraduate advising鈥� with CEAS),听and a panel including听students, faculty and staff听(Terri Corbett with College of Nursing advising;听Dr. Stacey Benton with 美高梅官网 Blue Ash veterinary technology; Emily听Scheiwiller, graduate assistant for social work and Assistant Dean Cummins; and听Rachel Schiller and Jenny Whitt of the Bearcat Support Network).听
